The Anglo-Irish political drama HUNGER (above), the thriller IN BRUGES, and the romantic fantasy SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE dominated the 2008 British Independent Film Award nominations.
Among the nominees, only SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, HAPPY-GO-LUCKY, THE BOY IN STRIPED PAJAMAS, and THE DUCHESS have much of a chance on the western side of the Atlantic. HUNGER, however, which opens in the US on December 5, may become a critical sleeper.
